Live, from anywhere
Position, speed, altitude and unit status in real time over 4G. From the airfield, the office or your phone.
Telemetry · Cameras · Flight analysis
Blackbird is a connected black box for light aviation: it records the flight with GPS, a 50 Hz IMU (accelerometers and gyroscopes) and three cameras with cabin audio, and you can follow it live from anywhere or review it afterwards: turns, landings, risks and reports.
Real flights: a touchdown with all three cameras, map and flight profile, and the radio call while turning to final (“Olocau, EC-DG4, final runway 33”) with live instruments. Tap the speaker to hear the cabin.
Connected black box
Like an aircraft's black box, Blackbird records everything on board. The difference is you don't wait for the landing: you check it remotely, while it flies.
Position, speed, altitude and unit status in real time over 4G. From the airfield, the office or your phone.
Cabin, front and wing cameras, with cabin audio, live for the instructor, the school or the organisers.
Video, audio, telemetry and IMU data are stored on the unit even if coverage drops, and downloaded later from the portal.
Review the flight with video, instruments and data in sync, plus the automatic report on turns, touchdowns and logbook.
Flight analysis
A flight is short and memory is unreliable. Blackbird records what the aircraft did, what could be seen and what could be heard every second, so you can review it calmly, measure it and check whether the next flight goes better.
Cameras, map and instruments synchronised in a single video: speed, attitude, vertical speed, G-force, slip ball and flight profile, with cabin audio. Review the flight with the student, second by second.
Lateral acceleration draws the ball and the turn rate gives the bank. Crossing both measures whether each turn is coordinated, how much height is lost and how the student progresses.
Automatic take-off and touchdown detection. Speed, descent rate and G-force at touchdown, bounces, and the circuit on the map with heights and speeds per leg.
Alerts for excessive bank close to the ground, high descent rates on final, turns at low speed or G-force beyond limits, with the exact moment in the video.
On landing, a report with times, track, events, maxima and a comparison with your previous flights. Ready for the student or for the records.
When several pilots fly the same aircraft, Blackbird identifies who flew each time and keeps separate records: logbook, reports and each pilot's or student's progress in coordination, approaches and landings.
What pilots write down by hand, filled in automatically: engine start and stop, departure and arrival aerodrome, number of landings and persons on board.
GPX track, 50 Hz inertial (IMU) log, logs and recorded videos. Analyse them with your own tools.
Flight report
A real example, calculated from the data Blackbird recorded on a flight from Mutxamel (LEMU, Alicante) to Olocau (Valencia): from engine start to turns, speeds and the height profile.
12 October 2026 · 11:37 → 12:41 (local time)
Bank and flight-path angle are calculated from GPS and barometer. Height measured above the take-off point.
17 October 2026 · 10:54 → 11:12 (local time)
A circuit flight with touch-and-goes on runway 33, measured with the 50 Hz IMU's accelerometers and gyroscopes: every turn, every touchdown and what the ball does in each situation.
In left turns the ball goes 1.2° to the outside on average, up to 1.4° at 20–35° of bank: a bit more right rudder is needed. Everywhere else (climb, cruise, descent) it stays centred. There are also 3 long slips, all on final with the left wing low: one on each approach to runway 33. The longest lasts 28 s and drops 340 ft. No skid of 10 s or longer.
| Time | Type | Duration | Max ball | Heading | Height change | When |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 10:57:10 | Slip | 12 s | 8.6° Left | 331° | −128 ft | On final |
| 11:02:32 | Slip | 16 s | 8.6° Left | 330° | −161 ft | On final |

Ball = IMU lateral acceleration, median per situation (excluding straight slips, which are intentional); flagged from 1°. “Needs rudder” follows the step-on-the-ball rule. Skid: turning with the ball to the outside. Slip: ball towards the low wing. Bank calculated from the gyroscope and GPS speed. Continuous score per touchdown out of 100: touchdown firmness (40; full at ≤ 1.10 G, zero at 1.60 G, 0.3 s average), flare or pitch gained in the last 8 s (25; full at ≥ 6°), no bounce (20) and a stabilised final, from the speed variation 40 to 12 s before touchdown (15; full at ≤ 5 km/h). Touchdown is detected from rolling vibration with the aircraft at runway elevation.
One unit on board and one portal to watch, download and configure it.
Position, speed, altitude, heading and G-force arrive instantly. See where the aircraft is and how it flies, while it flies.
Cabin, front and wing views. The cabin audio is recorded too, in sync with video and data: relive the flight with its sound.
Sends position straight to Air Sports, in the units they expect, for tracking events and competitions.
Change camera quality, tweak parameters and restart services or the unit from the portal, without going to the airfield.
Software updates over the internet. The unit watches its own connection and recovers by itself if it drops.
Detects from vibration that the engine has stopped and shuts the unit down cleanly, to protect recordings.
Three steps, with nothing to touch during the flight.
The Blackbird unit is installed in the aircraft and connects to the GPS, the IMU, the cameras and the cabin microphone.
It sends data and video over 4G and records on board. If coverage drops, the unit recovers by itself and carries on.
You, your school or the organisers watch the flight live; afterwards you review it with its videos and data from the portal.
From the school that wants to teach better to the pilot who wants to fly better.
Objective debriefing with every student: video, data and a report for each flight, and their progress over time even when they share an aircraft.
Analyse your turns, approaches and landings with real data and check whether each flight beats the last.
Live tracking of pilots and position delivery to the organisers.
Status and usage of every aircraft, and of every pilot: who flew what and when, automatic logbooks and users with per-aircraft permissions.
